In year 2011 many new clinical trials began in cord blood stem cell field. On January 5th Texas Health Science Centre in Houston announced about new I stage clinical trials, investigating patient's own cord blood stem cell therapeutic effectives in treating brain injuries.

Trial will consist of children age form 18 months to 17 years, who have their cord blood stem cells stored in CBR bank. This clinical trial is an example of cooperation between private cord blood bank and scientists from Regenerative Medicine Institute. Together with this trial, with approval of FDA, Georgia Health Science University with Medicine College started another clinical trial to determine if cord blood stem cell infusion for cerebral palsy patients is safe and if this can improve the healing process. This clinical trial started last year, and the participants are children from 1 to 12 years old who also have their cord blood stem cell stored.
